Northern Lights Wins At Grow-Off Competition
We’ve been working hard over the past 6 months on a quest to be among the best. Today we are happy to announce that we are. And that’s not just someone’s opinion; that’s scientific fact. Northern Lights Cannabis Co. has been participating in The Grow-Off, a mission to test marijuana growers and a measurement for the best. We are Grow-off competition winners. Our grow has been ranked third in potency out of 44 Colorado growers and we couldn’t be more proud!
Established to test skills on an apples-to-apples comparison, The Grow-Off launched in April of 2016 with the mission to truly seek out the best cultivators using scientific measures. The Grow-Off is like a controlled science project for recreational marijuana. This competition does not include any judges using subjective measures to determine winners and instead entries were evaluated based on potency, flavor and yield. The competition was open to industry aficionados with a Colorado commercial grow license.
Participants all start with cannabis with the same DNA – clones of the same mother plant. Cultivators take it from here. Their job is to grow the best product possible with an emphasis on potency, yield and flavor of course. It’s up to the growers to find out what worked and what didn’t over the 6 month grow period. Each contestant then submitted their grow to Steep Hill, the country’s leading cannabis science and technology company, for analysis. Steep Hill tested each submission for each of the three categories. No judges to impress here; just science.
Recently announced is the same competition for medical marijuana, a follow up to the rec contest. Competitions like this that are based on science vs. the opinion of a panel of individuals are another great way to demonstrate the benefits of our cannabis lifestyles. The Grow-Off is a cannabis competition like no other to date. Northern Lights Cannabis Co. is proud to not only be a part of the inaugural competition, but to come out on top, winning third place for potency out of 44 growers!
